Best Waterproof Hiking Boots Under $100 in 2017 (Top 10)
Why are Waterproof Hiking Shoes Important?
Normal boots are just not as great as the hiking boots.
Hiking boots come with such great features that once you start wearing one, you will never return to your ordinary shoes.
Hiking shoes are much sturdier compared to your normal shoes. They have the capacity to withstand the harsh topography and climate of hiking expanses.
Hiking shoes do not wear and tear easily, and a good pair of hiking shoes will last you more a couple of years if taken good care of. These beauties are a must investment for any hiker lover.
Another great thing is that we are talking about waterproof hiking shoes. These shoes are weather resistant and will protect your feet from wind and snow; so you will not have to contain yourself the next time the child inside you makes you want to jump into that stream or pond.
Hiking shoes are extremely safe and protective, and hence they greatly reduce the possibility of you spraining your ankle and hurting yourself in the hike.
Moreover, hiking shoes are lightweight, allowing you to travel long distances without feeling tired.
They are comfortable and breathable as well.
And because the hiking shoes such as, the Timberland White Ledge Men’s Waterproof Boots and the Columbia Men’s Redmond Mid Waterproof Hiking Boot, are so stylish, you can wear these shoes during other times as well.
How to Choose the Best Hiking Boots?
A good pair of hiking boots means a good combination of the following ideal materials, parts and features. Pay attention to the factors mentioned below while purchasing a pair of hiking boots and you will inhibit yourself from making a bad purchase.
Hiking boots must be made out of good quality materials. Generally, hiking boots are made up of either leather, synthetic or rubber. Leather boots are stronger and long lasting whereas the synthetic boots made either from nylon or polyester are more waterproof, comfortable and inexpensive. Rubber boots are the most waterproof among the three and are also durable and comfortable.
The material of the boots must be waterproof and weather resistant. A sturdy and robust material ensures the durability of the boots and will allow you the benefit to wear the boots in the harshest of the climates and land without any ordeal.
However, you also need to make certain that despite the toughness, the boots are in fact breathable and flexible, because your feet are going to hurt if the boots are not comfortable and malleable.
2. Boot Parts
The next things you want to pay attention to are the different parts of the boots, mostly, the sole and the insole of the boots.
The sole is generally made up of rubber. The outer sole needs to have an adequate grip and traction so that you can maintain a good grasp during the overall hike and not trip or slip by any chance. You must be able to walk in slippery floors. Also, the sole needs to be thick and strong so that your feet is well protected even if you step on rough and sharp lands or objects.
The insole of the boots must be protective and it is an added advantage if the insides are cushioned as this will provide optimum comfort and safety to your feet. Try and guarantee that the insoles are comfortable and supple.
3. Arch and Ankle Support
The third factor to consider while buying hiking boots is the support which is provided by the boots. One thing which I always recommend to hikers is to look for a boot which has high shaft. A high shaft, in most of the cases, assure ample support to the feet. This is because the higher arch length will provide more shield and protection to the feet and hence will result in fewer injuries even if you do land yourself in some sort of accident. Therefore, always purchase the hiking boots which provide good arch and ankle support; such hiking boots will be much comfortable and supportive during long hikes.
4. Other features
You can also search for boots which are anti-odor and anti-microbial. Try going for lightweight boots as these boots will not tire you fast; this way you will be able to travel longer distance more easily. You can also examine the hiking boots for being rustproof, stylish, quick drying, shock absorbing, versatile, good fitting and so on.
